HEYOO welcome back to the coolest blog out there! What’s up, how’s life, did you exercise today? You should, it’s gooood for youuuuu! Speaking of staying active, have you ever been in a rut and you know you should be exercising and taking care of yourself but all you’ve been doing is lying in bed scrolling through your phone, or you’re paying too much attention to other things such as work, and other adult responsibilities that you don’t end up taking care of yourself? Well I’m here to tell you Stop doing that!! (lovely of course… ☺) So we are both going to get up and do these things together to get healthy, get active and that blood pumping, here are 5 ways to stay active. LETS GET IT.
1. Dance like nobody's watching.
Ya’ll already know I am a huge advocate of dancing, especially in your room to blasting music. Whether you are starting off your day, having a break from work, or even getting ready for bed, a solid way to staying active is by dancing, the best part is not only are you breaking a sweat, but you’re having fun, and if you are like me and you’re OBSESSED with music your dance sessions will last more than 15 minutes and you will lose track of time. Your workout will be longer than you might think (but I’m going to say, be careful with time management, I don’t want you missing your zoom meeting or burning your dinner. I speak from experience)
Bonus: want to optimize your dance sessions? Come join us Thursday’s and Sunday’s for some sick moves, addicting songs and laughs when learning the combo! Keep reading to find out how to get started!
2. Get some fresh air.
If you have a dog, or you're living with some friends or family, go to the park together, walk around, grab your yoga mat and stretch, or even toss around a Frisbee or a football (dogs included). Not only will you be able to change your environment, but getting some fresh air and moving around is a great way to get active and soak in all that Vitamin D. Spending some time outside is also a great way to get you in a better mood. And with Spring in full swing, this is a great way to get experiencing the lovely warm weather.
3. Stretch it out!
Stretching is not only relaxing but will stimulate your body to get active and stay fit longer. Stretching for even 10 minutes a day will drastically change the way you function every day. There are so many benefits of stretching both morning and night. If you want to start off your day refreshed, healthy, and ready to take on the day—stretch right after you wake up; and if you want to relax, get ready for bed and release all that pent up anxiety and energy stretching at night will do wonders for your body and your sleep schedule.
Bonus: If you would like to stretch certain areas you know you need to work on but want to do so safely and not risk additional complications, check out our stretch class on Thursday nights where you can target certain areas while also stretching every part of your body. (Highly recommended if you are looking for a good night sleep after stretching. I slept like a baby after!)
4. Be a tourist in your own city!
When was the last time you went out and saw some of the cool things Brussels has to offer? A great way to get active and get you in a great mood is by exploring some cool areas that you may have not gone to in forever! Grab a friend or a family member and play tourist (safely of course). Grab some coffee to go, walk around Grand Place and take some cool pictures. You can browse through the streets of the City Centre and make some great memories along the way. Not only will you be getting some exercise, but you will be able to spend some quality time with a loved one and see how beautiful Brussels really can be!
5. Join some online classes.
Joining online classes are a great way to stay active, stay safe and enjoy the comfort of your own home. You can join yoga classes, cardio classes and my personal favourite you already know is dance classes LETS GO! You will be able to get active, have fun, see some cool people, get creative and expand your music knowledge! All great things if you ask me ☺. At STU Arts not only will you be able to learn how to dance but you will also be able to utilize those sick moves for when lockdown is lifted and show them off to your friends! Come join us Thursdays and Sundays for some Hip Hop fun!
