So you want to start learning how to dance, but don’t know if you are cut out for it? Don’t talk yourself out of it because by the end of this blog you will (hopefully) be registering for some STU Arts dance classes ASAP. If you relate to any of these reasons you were meant to learn how to dance! So without any more babbling, here are 5 reasons why you have always wanted to learn how to dance.
1. You’ve always been creative
You have always had that creative instinct; whether it is through music, drawing, or writing. Any form of artistic creation you are drawn to and love to be able to express yourself through it. If you love to express yourself beyond just words, dance might be for you. Dance allows you to be creative without the need of words, all you have to do is move and connect with the music at hand.
2. You love unconventional forms of fitness
If you love to get fit but would not consider yourself a gym rat, dance classes might be for you. Gyms are not made for everyone, and traditional forms of exercise might not be the best approach for you. If you like to work up a sweat, but also want to have fun and challenge yourself in a creative setting, dance is your perfect solution! Not only will you be able to get creative and work out, but you will also gain an equally supportive and creative community along the way.
3. You’ve always been a dancer at heart
Whether you have been told by your mum that you have always been dancing since you were a kid or have been dancing around in your apartment at 3 in the morning to your favourite songs; you my friend, have always been a dancer at heart. Dance is open to everyone no matter your age, level, height or ability and if you want to learn how to dance—go for it. You won’t regret it and all great things will come out of it. This way you will be able to foster your creative outlet even more!
4. You want to challenge yourself
If you love to challenge yourself creatively and/or physically dancing is a great way to do so. If you are like me and get caught in a rabbit hole watching all of these cool dance videos on instagram and facebook and end up thinking to yourself “wow I wish I could do that”. I’m here to tell you that you 100% can do it and a little healthy challenge will make you stronger and a better dancer in the long run! Challenging yourself will also help you build confidence outside of the studio and get you confident in other aspects of your life such as work.
5. You believe that Everyone Can Dance
To put it simply, you believe that everybody has the ability to dance. You don’t have to be classically trained in ballet, jazz, or hip hop to be considered a dancer. Anyone can dance, and anyone can learn how to dance just like how anyone can learn how to read and write. It takes a little commitment but overtime you will see yourself getting better and better and before you know it you will be able to show off your skills to your family and friends!
While there are so many more reasons as to why you’ve always wanted to learn how to dance, we hope that you have connected to at least one of these reasons. Dance really is for everyone and is a great way to get creative either by yourself or with a group of friends.
